My father, BTW, doesn't receive Medicare and SSI (or how is it spelled) pension - he is 72 and still works and hopes to continue working for at least 3 years. My mother has retired and gets $68 from SSI, to bring her pension to the minimal level. She doesn't receive Medicare, either - she's got life-time insurance from her last work.
BTW, I'll certainly accept my SocSec pension - after all, i've been paying my share for 15 years already and going to continue in the foreseeable future.
I wouldn't mind if there will be no SocSec pension in my future, as long as all my payments are returned to me with the corresponding interest (I'm OK with 5-6 percentage points - mere inflation adjustment).
